ANCAP crash test results

Toyota Yaris (LHD) | 2005 on

Front+side & head airbags

Important note: The left-hand-drive European model with side curtains was tested by Euro NCAP. New Zealand specifications may vary and therefore models sold in New Zealand might provide different levels of protection to those described on this page. The tested vehicle had side curtain airbags that come as standard on the 1.5 litre version and with an optional safety pack on the 1.3 litre version in NZ.

Model history and safety features

The tested model of Toyota Yaris was introduced in New Zealand during 2005.

Dual front airbags and ABS/EBD brakes are standard. Side airbags, head-protecting side curtains and a knee airbag for the driver are available in as standard fitment on the 1.5 litre version and in a safety pack on the 1.3 litre version that is recommended by ANCAP. The tested vehicle had these extra airbags. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to both front seats.

The front seat belt buckles are mounted on the seats and the upper anchorages are adjustable. These features improve the fit of the seat belt. Pre-tensioners are fitted to the front seat belts to reduce slack in the event of a crash. A three point seat belt is fitted to the centre rear seat. This provides better protection than a two point seat belt.
