Recalls

From time to time motor vehicles manufactured overseas are recalled by their manufacturers because of defects in their design or production.
Vehicle defects can range from minor problems to faults that affect the vehicle's safety and performance.
While most vehicles subject to a recall are repaired in the source market, some may be exported before the defect has been remedied, or before the defect has been detected and the recall announced.
Before you import a motor vehicle into New Zealand you are strongly advised to check whether the vehicle has been subject to a safety-related recall.

Vehicle recalls are listed on the Australian Federal Government website. The vast majority of vehicles recalled in New Zealand will be listed here. If you have any concerns about recalls affecting your own vehicle you should contact your nearest dealer in New Zealand.

Possibly water-damaged vehicles

The vehicles listed here have been brought to the attention of Land Transport NZ because they have at some stage been identified as likely to have been damaged by water to the extent that components like seat belts, seat belt pretensioners, airbags and certain electrical systems including associated wiring were below the safe standard required by New Zealand law. The list is not comprehensive and some of the listed vehicles may have been restored to safe tolerance since being identified.
