The Land Transport New Zealand Board has approved $574,000 in funding for the investigation of measures to provide easier access to Auckland's North Shore Busway.
The investigation, with a total cost of $746,000, will help identify works needed on local roads throughout North Shore City to improve access to the busway for buses and high occupancy vehicles, without adverse impacts on other traffic.
The investigation will also look at the need for new bus stations and improvements to existing bus stations.
Construction work is due to begin shortly on the $180 million busway - a separate roadway for buses and high-occupancy vehicles on the eastern side of the Northern Motorway.
Land Transport NZ Board chair Dr Jan Wright says the North Shore Busway is a strategically significant public transport project for the Auckland region, and it is important to ensure that associated works are carried out in a co-ordinated and compatible manner to maximise its efficiency.
