Frontal impact compliance status of vehicles by vehicle make

Recognising a frontal impact compliant Audi vehicle

To determine frontal impact compliance for Class MA Audi models, examine the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) following the instructions outlined in the boxes below.

Audi A3, A4, A4 Cabriolet

Class MA Audi A3 and Audi A4 models that are German-assembled and manufactured in right-hand drive form will comply with an approved frontal impact standard if they have a VIN that:

  • Starts with the letters WAU

AND

  • Has a 10th character that is a V, W, X, Y, 1, 2,3,4 or 5*

For example a vehicle with a VIN of WAU ###### V# ###### would be frontal impact compliant.


Audi A6, Allroad, A8

Class MA Audi A6 and Audi A8 models that are German-assembled and manufactured in right-hand drive form will comply with an approved frontal impact standard if they have a VIN that:

  • Starts with the letters WAU

AND

  • Has a 10th character that is a W, X, Y, 1, 2,3,4 or 5*

For example a vehicle with a VIN of WAU ###### W# ###### would be frontal impact compliant.


Audi TT Coupe and Roadster

Class MA Audi TT models that are German-assembled and manufactured in right-hand drive form will comply with an approved frontal impact standard if they have a VIN that:

  • Starts with the letters TRU

AND

  • Has a 10th character that is a X, Y, 1, 2,3,4 or 5*

For example a vehicle with a VIN of TRU ###### X# ###### would be frontal impact compliant.

WARNING: If there is any doubt that a vehicle is German assembled, contact the manufacturer’s representative prior to importation. Any variations on the VIN to the manufacturer’s identification of WAU or TRU should be directed to the manufacturer ’s representative for clarification.

* Note: The 10th character denotes the model year, as follows:
