C1.1 Overview

Introduction

Each regional transport committee (RTC), or the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) for the Auckland region, must prepare a three-year regional land transport programme (RLTP) every three financial years. The RLTP is prepared from activities and combinations of activities submitted by approved organisations and the NZTA.

Purpose

The purpose of this chapter is to:

  • summarise the tasks involved in the above in relation to the overall process
  • point to where to find detailed information in this manual.

This chapter also provides:

  • the NZTA's guidance on terms used in the Land Transport Management Act 2003 (LTMA)
  • a summary of the legislative provisions for RLTPs.

Audience

The primary audience groups for this chapter are:

  • approved organisations
  • the NZTA
  • RTCs and ARTA
  • regional councils.
