What's in this section for commercial drivers and operators?

Land Transport NZ works with the commercial road transport industry to ensure transport regulations and standards are met. We also offer advice and guidance to operators on ways to improve their compliance.

What's new?

• The Heavy Vehicle Brakes Rule and its implementation
  Information and resources about this Rule, including chassis rating request forms.
• Commercial road transport toolkit for drivers and operators - Contains 'infocards' about pre-trip checks, fatigue, the operator rating system and the Transport Organisation Register Online (TORO).
• Agricultural vehicles guide - A guide for the safe and legal use of tractors, agricultural trailers and agricultural machines on New Zealand’s roads
• Work Time and Logbooks Rule: exemption from logbooks for drivers of goods vehicles
  Information about a logbook exemption which applies to vehicles that have a GLW of 3,500 kg - 6,000 kg.
• On the road: September 2007
  In September 2007, Land Transport NZ held a series of free presentations around the country to provide TSL holders with information on how operator rating system ratings will be calculated.
• Law changes affecting commercial operators and drivers
  New law changes being introduced from October 2007 will affect most commercial drivers and operators (passenger service, goods service, vehicle recovery service and rental vehicle service industries).
• Registering your private hire or shuttle service
  From 1 October 2007, the Land Transport Rule Operator Licensing 2007 requires operators of private hire and shuttle services to register their service with the Director of Land Transport. Here are the instructions and forms to help you register.
