DVCU re-inspections

This document is also available in PDF.

What is a re-inspection?

A re-inspection is an unannounced non-chargeable re-inspection of specific items on a vehicle that has recently been inspected by an Inspecting Organisation.

Who will be affected?

Any Inspecting Organisation may be subject to a re-inspection. A set number will be carried out each year. Sites will be selected at random. A site may be visited more than once.

Who will be conducting them?

The same Land Transport NZ Reviewers who carry out scheduled Performance Reviews.

How will re-inspections affect your business?

How long will a re-inspection take?

A re-inspection is not a full vehicle inspection. Only specific items will be re-inspected.

These will be selected in accordance with the time constraints of the vehicle owner and any impact it will have on the inspection of other vehicles.

How much will re-inspections cost?

Re-inspections are free.

When will they be conducted?

You will not be fore-warned that a re-inspection will be carried out at your site. A Land Transport NZ Reviewer may show up to carry out a re-inspection at any time.

How will re-inspections affect your customers?

The re-inspection will be conducted to minimise the impact on your customers. Our Reviewers will select the vehicle to be re-inspected with consideration for the vehicle owner. They will discuss it with the vehicle owner and/or you before beginning the re-inspection.

How will re-inspections affect your day-to-day business?

Our intention is to provide you with the tools and information to help you carry out a quality vehicle inspection in order to enhance the safety of the vehicles driven on New Zealand’s roads. We hope that re-inspections may help to highlight any areas of concern so that they may be addressed before your next scheduled review. We will off er advice and coaching to this end.

We see this as an opportunity to develop our relationship with you.

When will re-inspections start?

You can expect a re-inspection at any time from Monday, 7 November 2005.
